Experience authentic Goan culture through a local village tour and home-cooked meal in Orlim, a charming rural village in South Goa. Your host, Kim, welcomes you with refreshing coconut water from her garden and shares stories about the Hindu Saraswat and Catholic Portuguese influences that shape Goan cuisine. Enjoy a short guided walk through the village to see a 450-year-old church, a handloom house making kunbi saris, and maybe even spot migratory birds. Back at Kim’s home, explore the many tropical fruits or spices as you relax in her garden or join her in the kitchen as she prepares a Goan-Portuguese feast using homegrown ingredients. Savor dishes like prawn curry, pork vindaloo, or fish cutlets, followed by desserts such as caramel custard or bebinca. This Goa cultural and culinary experience is ideal for families and children seeking fun, interactive activities that offer a true taste of local life and food.

More about Kim

Kim has worked in the travel industry for over 25 years and loves meeting new people, exploring cultures, and discovering diverse cuisines. A Goan native, she learned to cook at age 12 from her father, a former merchant navy captain who dreamed of becoming a chef. Inspired by his passion, Kim now lives in a small South Goa village with her husband and two children, where food remains at the heart of family life. Encouraged by their support, she launched her own fine foods and confectionery business five years ago, catering personalized meals for groups.

What others are saying

"From the start, fishing for crabs in the river, to the warm hospitality while enjoying the food this was a remarkable way of experiencing the local culture! Kim and her family, thoroughly enjoyed being able to share their experience of the local area and Kim's passion for food, which indeed comes across in her cooking! It was really easy to chat with Kim and she was very knowledgeable as well. The entire meal was full of flavor and delicious; my favorite was the freshly steamed crabs that we caught earlier in the day at the river."

"We went in the tour expecting very little, but Mrs. Kim really surprised us. The way the trip was scheduled was pleasant, with a nice walk explaining the history of the region followed by visit to the river to catch the crabs, even though we just caught one small crab the experience was wonderful. Then we came back to her house for dinner. She made some delicious traditional Goan dishes like Chafereal, prawn risotto and a crepe spring roll. The spring roll was out of the world. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone.I would highly recommend this trip to everyone. It was lovely spending time with Kim's entire family. "

"True traveling should always involve spending time with people who live where you are visiting. Booking tours with locals is one way of doing this and I do it often. But this booking- was fabulous! Kim not only served us a 7 couruse meal of local Goan treats in her gorgeous home- but also took us on a walking tour of her village! We picknicked on the river, spent magical time in the gorgeous local Church and stopped at historic chapels and buildings all along the way. Her family was so welcoming and lovely! I can’t say enough about thus experience. JUST DO IT!"
